The October 7, 2023 Hamas attack against Israel did not happen or was fabricated.

Hamas fighters filmed and distributed their own attack footage on Telegram in real time on October 7. Multiple independent governments, international organizations, forensic investigators, and journalists confirmed the events, casualties, and kidnappings from separate and uncoordinated evidentiary tracks. The UN commission of inquiry, the UN Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict, the BBC, Reuters, the New York Times, and numerous other bodies conducted independent investigations and reached consistent conclusions. The convergence of independent institutional findings across different investigative mandates and national contexts is incompatible with a fabrication theory.
The identities of the approximately 1,200 people killed and approximately 251 people taken hostage are individually documented. Named individuals, identified by families, governments, and official records, cannot be fabricated as a class. Foreign nationals among the dead and hostages were confirmed by their own governments, including the United States, Thailand, Germany, France, and others. No credible investigative body has contested the fundamental reality of the event.
The ongoing international diplomatic process for hostage releases is itself independent corroboration. Qatar, Egypt, and the United States conducted sustained, documented multilateral negotiations resulting in confirmed partial releases across 2023, 2024, and 2025. Those negotiations involve identifiable living people who were released, gave testimony, and were received by their families and governments. A fabricated event cannot produce years of verifiable diplomatic activity resulting in the return of real people.

STRONGEST COUNTER ARGUMENTS WORTH KNOWING:

Some claim the attack was exaggerated or misreported in specific details, pointing to early figures that changed or specific incidents where initial reports were revised.
Others argue that certain incidents within the attack are disputed or that casualty figures were inflated for political purposes.
Neither argument is a denial of the event itself, and that is the critical distinction. Early wartime reporting often contains fluid figures. Specific incidents within a large-scale event can be contested without the event itself being fabricated. The claim being rebutted is not “every detail was accurate” but “the event happened.” No credible investigative body, no government, and no serious forensic inquiry has concluded that October 7 was staged or fabricated. The perpetrators themselves documented and distributed their own conduct.

NOTES:

This is the most extreme denial claim in the October 7 cluster, and it is also the easiest to rebut because the evidential baseline is so large and multi-sourced.

Tactical framing: the perpetrator-generated evidence is the most powerful category. Hamas filmed and distributed its own attack. If the event was fabricated, the fabricators would need to explain how Hamas’s own Telegram channels were publishing it in real time. That is the framing to use first because it removes source-bias arguments entirely.

The two independent UN institutional tracks are the second strongest category. The OHCHR commission and the UN Special Representative operate under different mandates and conducted separate investigations. Their consistent findings are not the result of Israeli influence.

The foreign national argument is underused. Governments including the United States, Thailand, Germany, France, and others confirmed the deaths and abductions of their own citizens. No foreign government has claimed its nationals were fabricated victims.

The note should not engage seriously with the fabrication claim as though it has evidential merit. The correct posture is to cite the evidence base efficiently and note that no credible investigative body disputes the fundamental reality of the event. Spending too much time on this claim gives it more intellectual weight than it deserves.

If someone cannot accept facts confirmed by the perpetrators themselves, the UN, and dozens of governments, no archive entry will fix that. don't waste time on people who can't accept facts, let alone people who support it.
